Abstract

This term paper about the Republican Party is meant to give the reader some basic information about the "grand old party" since it was created in the 19th century, showing the history and ideological breaks until today. I also want to focus on the organisation of the party followed by a look at the fiscal and social policy of the Republicans. Another aspect of today's interest might be the republican foreign policy, influenced by several interest groups and lobbyists. Names such as the neo - conservatives and even the infamous religious right will be presented in the text, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Richard M. Nixon and George W. Bush. The term paper offers information on a complex subject showing a major part of American policy and politics.
