Achim Ladwig, M.A.

Achim Ladwig is currently Head of Unit at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels and responsible for social and digital media & publications. In 2015 he was the European Union Fellow in residence at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, Boston MA. Prior to that, he was the speechwriter for the Vice-President of the European Commission in Brussels. He is a Senior Fellow at the Fletcher School and a regular guest lecturer on post-graduate European Studies, Development and Global Affairs at the University of Aachen, Germany. He has been a staff member of the European Union, posted both in Brussels and outside Europe since 2000. He dealt extensively with the EU’s relation with countries in the Horn of Africa, and served at EU Embassies in Sudan, Iraq, and Sierra Leone where he was responsible for political affairs as well as development cooperation. He graduated with an M.A. degree in Sociology and in Political Science at the University of Aachen.
